Partners of the Americas is a private, non-sectarian, non-profit apolitical organization of volunteers dedicated to promoting economic, educational, cultural and social development throughout the western hemisphere. Since it was founded in 1964, Partners has become one of the hemisphere’s most influential forces building goodwill and cooperation among the peoples of the Americas. For more information, check the Partners of the Americas International Office website at www.partners.net.

Partners pairs 60 volunteer chapters in U.S. States and Washington, D.C. with counterparts in 31 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Brazilian capital of Brasilia. As one of 19 U.S.-Brazil partnerships, the District of Columbia is partnered with Brasilia. Nearby U.S. - Brazil Partnerships include Maryland - Rio de Janeiro and Virginia - Santa Catarina.

All Partners Chapters function as local, independent organizations directed by volunteers working together. The D.C. - Brasilia Partnership engages in a wide variety of two-way cultural, educational and development exchanges in areas such as: teacher education, ethics and character education, youth leadership, physical disabilities, art and culture, HIV/AIDS and drug prevention, university linkages, business promotion, and environmental conservation.

As a grassroots, service-oriented organization, we welcome anyone interested in promoting the activities noted above. Attend one of our meetings and/or contact one of our officers (see Contacts),
